A tropical storm, Beryl, has hit Puerto Rica after the devastating hurricane Maria brought ruins to the island a few months ago.

Considering what Puerto Rico went through, with many losing their lives, their homes and even other their families, anything close to resembling possible damage to the island seems scary by itself.

The storm, Beryl, have brought a lot of rain, as well as strong winds to the island, which created flash flood conditions and once again, power outage issues, which have contributed to their previous devastating hurricane season.

Even though Beryl was a lot less severe than Maria, it still sparked fear in Puerto Rican’s hearts, causing damage on top of everything that’s already been lost, and built up again.

The one thing Puerto Rican’s were thankful for was the rain. Even though it brought two to four inches thereof, it only left the island with flash floods and thunderstorms.

The Risk and After-Effects of Storm Beryl

No citizen on the island could imagine reliving Maria, which occurred in September 2017, occurring nearly a year later, there were many warnings of the combination of rain and wind conditions for Beryl.

Although not even half as severe, many took caution after Maria, with 60,000 people putting blue tarps on their homes. The tarps were used to protect the houses against nature’s elements, the rain and wind.

When warnings about storm Beryl were first announced, governments opened 42 shelters to their citizens, to provide support and comfort to those that needed protection against the storm.

Beryl left the island with up to 13,000 power outages, which added to that of the outages caused by Hurricane Maria since September 2017.

Although the storm was nothing close to Hurricane Maria, nor Irma, Puerto Ricans are still trying to recover from the storm till today, and the occurrence of such floods are most definitely not helping.
