As a hurricane that made headlines all over the world, hitting Texas on the 25th of August 2017, Hurricane Harvey caused a lot of damage and was one of the series of storms that hit North and South America around the same period of a month.

13 million people living in Texas, Mississippi, Tennessee, Louisiana and Kentucky were affected by the storm, which continued spreading devastation over 6 days. It was at its worst on the 1st of September 2017, when one-third of Houston was underwater. Flooding resulted in up to 39,000 people have to evacuate their homes and move to shelters.

The Damage Caused by Hurricane Harvey

As an amazing, well-known state in America, a storm with the magnitude of Hurricane Harvey is something that no one wants to experience again. With 203,000 homes damaged and 12,700 homes were destroyed, the hurricane left many having to start completely over again.

After the storm, there was also blankets, beds and meals delivered to the people who suffered in the storm.

10,000 people also had to be rescued from their homes and roads within the affected area.

There was also severe damage caused to water systems, electricity being cut off and many schools that had to be closed due to flood damage. There were more than 1,000 motor vehicles ruined in the storm, which served as another big loss to many living in Texas, along with the loss of their homes.
