Yorkshire Water recently confirmed that owners Kelda Group are planning to sell off its business retail arm, and thereby exit the retail business market.

According to media reports, a spokesman for the company said: “Yorkshire Water Business Services and Three Sixty can confirm they have notified staff of the Kelda Group’s intention to exit the non-household retail market and sell its non-household retail businesses.

These are early days but we felt it was right to keep our colleagues informed throughout.

In the meantime, it is very much business as usual for our colleagues and non-household retail customers and we will continue to provide them with the very best service.”

Three Sixty was born out of Yorkshire Water, and is part of the Kelda Group – it was launched in September 2016. The company said Three Sixty would take a recognisable approach to the non-household retail market which opened in April 2017.

At the time of launch Robert Marrill, managing director of Three Sixty, said:

“In developing Three Sixty, we have learnt from all the attributes that made our sister company Yorkshire Water and our national water retail company Kelda Water Services Retail so successful and have applied them to this new company, putting customer service at the heart of everything we do.

“We will provide real value for our business customers and build on the key strengths, expertise and decades of experience we have in the Three Sixty team.”

The statement the company issued said “business as usual” will continue while details of the market exit are finalised. It also reassured non-household retail customers that they will continue to receive “the very best service”.

Unfortunately this closure will mean that around 100 jobs at its Bradford and Barnsley sites will be put at risk.
