Which is Healthier for me; Spring Water or Purified Water? While many individuals are turning from drinking tap water to drinking bottled water due to the fact that tap water tastes funny and is not always that pure, even in First World countries, most are in a quandary as to which water is healthier when faced with all the options that are on the market today.

Differences

First of all, it is important that you understand exactly what spring water is and what purified water is:

  • Spring water, also sometimes known as artesian water, ground water or well water, comes from an underground aquifer and collected when it flows or arrives at the surface. Spring water has generally been filtered through rock strata via a natural filtration process, which makes it taste great and fills it with natural minerals such as potassium, magnesium, and sodium.

  • Purified water is water that has been highly purified via strict filtration methods, but which has had all chemicals and pathogens but not microbes, removed from it. Purified water can come from any source of water, including ground, spring, or tap water.

The choice between drinking spring water and drinking purified water really depends on access and personal preference in most cases. Spring water is more accessible since the explosion of bottled water on a global scale, but modern high grade water purification systems are slowly making their way into homes, businesses and restaurants, so this may change soon.

My preference is for filtered water, but not from a plastic bottle that cost hundreds of litres of water to make and will most probably land up in a landfill somewhere one day to forever lie there and leach poisons into the ground.

I get my filtered water, which is so pure that it virtually tastes like spring water, from my Living-Water mains water cooler which is plumbed into my main water supply and fitted with a Living-Water Triple Activated Carbon Filter.

I decided on the Living-Water Pure Water Cooler because it has everything I need; it is sleek and stylish, the soft touch electronic dispenser makes it easy for my kids to use, and the large porthole is great for my husband to fill his sports bottle before he goes for a run.

Living-Water has a nice range of mains water coolers; the Continuum, the Fountain, the Pure, the Executive and the Under Counter models as well as a range of three bottled water coolers (which dispense Living-Water Spring Water), the Star, the Executive and the Table Top, so contact them for a free quote.
