To imagine the reasons why water is important for human life, is quite an easy thing to do, considering that the human body alone can’t survive more than three days without it. Meaning that, if water didn’t exist, or would run out like it’s predicted to in the future, humans wouldn’t be able to thrive, nor live for very long at all.

That’s just one example of the importance of water. We ask the question “why is water important for life” when we should state that water is life itself.

Everything from animals on land, to the sky, to the ocean waters, forms ecosystems of millions of species, including plants, which all require water to survive.

Given the fact that Mars has no water, perhaps Earth would be a version of Mars without water too. Given its importance to sustain an ecological balance on earth, we can imagine what earth would look like without it.

What Does Earth Look Like Without Water?

If you think about what the soil would do without water, you’d think to yourself that it would be dead, lifeless and perhaps even turn into clay, rock, or something that’s not alive at all. Certain countries are already experiencing the process thereof. It’s all due to a process called subsidence, which is the process of groundwater being sucked dry and the earth collapsing and turning into a hard surface on the ground.

That is only the ground. If you’d like to think what the air would be without water, it means that there would be no clouds, which means no protection from the sun. Dry air would also deplete any moisture found on earth and apart from that, the human’s body, and animal’s bodies’ tissue would shrivel up, due to a lack of moisture.

It would also lead to a change in the air’s composition and to make things even worse, the methane in the ice caps would melt, which would increase the heating effects from the sun, that would place complete ruin on the earth.

That is why water is so essential for life. It is life itself.
