Our bodies are composed of between 65 and 70 percent water, and we lose between one and two percent of that water every time we perspire, breathe, urinate, or do any number of other bodily functions. In order for our bodies to continue to function properly and for us to maintain our health and hydration, we need to replenish the water that has been lost and maintain a consistent fluid balance throughout the body.

Even though we can get some of the fluids we need to keep our body in balance from fruit and vegetables as well as from other drinks such as tea, coffee, and juices, the best way to hydrate is still with plain old water. This is despite the fact that many people find drinking water to be an unpleasant experience.

Because we do not enjoy the taste of plain water does not mean that we should avoid drinking water; doing so might be highly harmful to our health because not drinking enough water can lead to dehydration, which in turn can cause a number of health problems, including the following:

  • headaches, dry mouth, and kidney issues are some of the symptoms.
  • symptoms such as brain fog, vertigo, heart difficulties, cancer, coma, and possibly even death.
