'Imagine a Day without Water' Campaign LaunchedThe Value of Water Coalition announced the “Imagine a Day without Water” campaign in August 2015 together with the launch of their new website in order to raise awareness of and build public support for investment in water.

The “Imagine a Day without Water” will take place on 6-8 October, 2015, across the US, with participation from partner organisations, local elected officials, water providers, and more, and according to Radhika Fox, president of the U.S. Water Alliance and director of the Value of Water Coalition, “‘Imagine A Day Without Water’ is an opportunity for every organization and individual that cares about water and the systems that bring it to and from homes and businesses to stand together for our most precious resource.”

The campaign is aimed at raising awareness and educating the public around the atrocious state of the aging water infrastructure systems, the wonderful benefits of investment, and the ways in which everyone can get involved.

The campaign encourages anyone who wants to get involved to create their own content or event to spread the message about the value of investing in water infrastructure, such as working with their local mayor or city council on a proclamation or resolution, writing an op-ed, inviting the press and local leaders to tour a water treatment facility, or creating a social media campaign.

This is a much-needed campaign which will serve to draw attention to a major problem, and the website offers participating organisations loads of help in the form of materials to assist in the planning and production of events, which include tips for planning a press event, 11 ideas on how to participate, a toolkit for ads, an op-ed template, and much more.

It is an opportunity for everyone to stand up for our most vital resource and the infrastructure that moves and treats it, and to create awareness around fair water use, and hopefully it is a campaign that other countries might also think of duplicating.
